5 Empowering Affirmations to Supercharge Your Leadership Skills!

Updated: Oct 19, 2023

Do you think affirmations work?

If so, you may not like what I’m going to say!

Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of them.

I don’t think they work by just saying them, and I do not like it when someone tells me, “Just do some affirmations.” It feels trite as if that will solve all of my problems, and it is a simple way to solve complex problems.”

When it comes to affirmation, there is no “just.”

But … that doesn’t mean they aren’t helpful. And I do say them daily, 😁 making sure I check the emotions that are behind them. If there is fear or desperation, or other negative emotions, I get those right first before I start receding them.

When managing a grieving team, affirmations can help create a supportive and uplifting environment. So I thought I’d put together five affirmations you might want to try, even if you are not managing a grieving team.

  1. "We are here for each other: Together, we can navigate this difficult time and support one another through the grieving process."

  2. "Our feelings matter: It's okay to experience a range of emotions. We honor and validate each other's feelings as we work through our grief."

  3. "We are resilient: We have the strength to face challenges and find ways to heal. We will grow stronger as individuals and as a team." (This is my favorite one!)

  4. "Progress at our own pace: Each person's grief journey is unique. We give ourselves permission to grieve and heal at our own pace, providing patience and understanding for one another."

  5. "Our work has value: Even during this time of grief, our contributions are meaningful. We support each other in maintaining a sense of purpose and finding moments of positivity."
